You are invited to share the sights and sounds of Water on this site, and we welcome any details you would like to share about the waterscapes or watersounds you are offering.
Please share the Name/Nation, the original name of the Water if you know it, or the current name, as feels right to you. What are the languages of your area, what are your words for Water?
In gratitude to Water and to you for sharing.
About the project
Um of Water is an invitation to sit, listen and be with Water.
Um of Water responds to and evolves with the Indigenous context of the land we are on and the Water we live with and rely upon for our collective survival.
While exploring the site and sitting and being in the company of Water:
What do you hear?
What do you feel?
What does Water teach you?
What is Water giving you?
How would Water feel about your current relationship?
What habits or entitlements could you give up to be a wiser relative with Water?
We begin by exploring Water here in what is now known as Ontario.

As we situate ourselves with this work, we acknowledge others who have dedicated their time and efforts towards supporting the Water. There are many different lenses, sectors, views and people working towards supporting the Water. It's not a competition, we need to be all hands on deck.
Please find ways to support and donate to Keepers of the Water:

Introducing the Um
Um of Water began as a series of conversations and invitations ~ to recalibrate our relationship to Water, to move towards collectively centering Water instead of the human, and to strengthen our capacities.
Um of Water seeks to amplify Water’s teachings to learn more ways for mutual respect, reciprocity and recognition. Can we give ourselves permission to sit and reconnect with Water, bringing our bodies to Water to re-evaluate our relationships? How can we be in service to Water?
In 2022, Um of Water opened a livestream to share a conversation between Lake Ontario and River Thames, across the length of a tide.
In respect of tidal time.
